چکیده

Thls paper explores the potential for airborne remote sensing for atmospheric sciences research. Passive and active techalques from the microwave to visible bands are discussed. It is concluded that technology has progressed sufficiently in several areas that the time Is right to develop and operate new remote sensing instruments for use by the community of atmospheric scientlste as general purpose tools. Promising candidates include Doppler radar a_d lidar, infrared short range radiometry, and microwave radiometry.

The wavenumber shift in SAR interferometry

Abstrac/-SAR surveys from separate passes show relative shifts of the ground wavcnu mber spectra thaI depend on the local slope and the off-nadir angle. We discuss the exploitation of this spectral sllift for different app] ications: I) generation of "low noise" intcrferograms benefiting phase unwrapping, 2) generation of quick-look interferograms, 3) decorrelation redllction by means of tunabl...

Study of soil moisture change effects on L-band DInSAR phase

The Differential Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry (DInSAR) technique is recognized as a potential remote sensing tool for detecting ground surface displacements with less than a centimetre accuracy. The surface soil moisture changes ( 1clip_image001.png" > ) during the time between the two images as an effective parameter on interferometry phase 1clip_image002.png" > ), leads to incorrec...

Chapter 3 OPTICAL AIRBORNE REMOTE SENSING

The technology of airborne remote sensing encompasses a broad class of airborne platforms and a wide suite of remote sensing instruments. Usable platforms range from airships (Hamley, 1994; Windischbauer and Hans, 1994), UAVs (Unmanned Airborne Vehicles, Miller et al., 1999; Petrie, 2001), and helicopters (Gade et al., 1998; Matthews et al., 1997; Schaepman et al., 1997), to standard and high-a...

L-band Imaging Radiometry with Airborne HUT-2D Interferometer – From the Performance to Remote Sensing Applications

Airborne radiometer system HUT-2D, operated by Helsinki University of Finland (TKK), stands for a new technology in the field of remote sensing. Applying the novel principles of interferometry and aperture synthesis, the instrument is capable in multi-angular airborne measurements at L-band, 1.41 GHz to be exact [1]. The most important environmental parameters desired from the measurements of t...

Investigating Alteration Zone Mapping Using EO-1 Hyperion Imagery and Airborne Geophysics Data

Hyperspectral remote sensing records reflectance or emittance data in a large sum of contiguous and narrow spectral bands, and thus has many information in detecting and mapping the mineral zones. On the other hand, the geological and geophysical data gives us some other fruitful information about the physical characteristics of soil and minerals that have been recorded from the surface. ...
